Gatsby uses Carraway to get close to his ex-lover Daisy. The novel tells the story of how Nick Carraway becomes entangled in the lives of mysterious multi-millionaire Jay Gatsby, the dazzling Daisy Buchanan, and her husband Tom.
Today however, it’s become a reading requirement in American high school curricula, and also has several adaptations in film and theatre. In its first year, it sold no more than 20,000 copies. Scott Fitzgerald and published in 1925, The Great Gatsby wasn’t always the literary classic that it is known for today.
